The Executive is informing producers of new arrangements for the identification of sheep, goats and cattle which will be introduced from mid-February. Specific licences for sheep will be replaced by a system of movement documents, reported centrally and held on a computer database. The existing flock of birth tags will continue. No extra tagging will be required for sheep and goats moving direct to slaughter. The arrangements for cattle movement will mostly stay the same, although the time for recording movements to BCMS will be shortened from 7 days at present to 3 days.
