Discusses the Waste and Resources Action Programme and how it will aid local authorities recycle more and reduce landfill. Both government and the EU are increasing pressure to recycle: Britain may be fined by the EU if it fails to divert two-thirds of its waste from landfill by 2020. WRAP will look to public and private sectors to 'show leadership' in creating a demand for recycled materials and products. WRAP's action plan includes 7 major programmes to increase recycling specific materials such as glass, plastic and organic material, including, eventually, even tyres.
