Following an EU ruling, that DEFRA has not fully implemented the EC Nitrates Directive 1991, UK farmers will have to take further measures to reduce nitrate pollution. The anti-pollution measures will affect more of the country, upsetting land values and cropping patterns. The measures will include limiting and controlling nitrogen fertiliser use to crop use only and limiting and controlling the spread of organic manure.
