BIDS cash to clean up Oxford Street

One of the UK's first Business Improvement Districts (BIDs), the New West End Co, has secured funding to clean up London's West End retail area. It will introduce street security and cleaning services provided by the private sector. Members of the BID are also preparing a brief for a masterplan for the area to be sent to Westminster City Council and the Greater London Authority. It will provide a strategy for transport and the built environment for the next 10 years.
