Amendments to the Landfill Tax Regulations 1996 came into effect on 1 February 2002 via statutory instrument (SI 2002/01). The amendments replace, and have the same effect as, extra-statutory class concession (ESCC) number 3.37, which allows landfill site operators to use the tax-free areas at a landfill site to store qualifying material for restoration of the site itself.
