Figures compiled by the director of academic programming for the University of Abertay Dundee's school of science and engineering, warn that applications to construction-related courses for September 2001 fell 7% on 2000. Universities have responded to falling numbers by drafting in overseas students. RICS plans to launch a career promotion campaign in schools at the end of the year to raise the profile of the surveying profession.
