The first 12 contaminated land experts passed through the new Specialists in Land Condition (SILC) accreditation scheme in 2001. The new 'log book' approach to brownfield site clean-ups may take some years before it can be assessed, however. The standard land condition record (LCR) aimed to build investor confidence in brownfield redevelopment by sharing the available information in a standard format.
