Surveyor wins negligence case - 1989 - Independent 14/4/89 p14 .

In Eley and Another v King & Chasemore (a firm), CA 11 April 1989, it was held that a surveyor , who carried out a structural survey on a house and advised the purchasers (E) to insure against subsidence , was not guilty of negligence for failing to advise E that the house needed underpinning . The surveyor was also held to be not negligent for failing to go on the roof when there were no signs of water penetration.
