British industry reported its best outlook for a year on the 1 March as the US manufacturing sector bucked nearly two years of decline. The US Institute of Supply Management revealed that its purchasers' index jumped to 54.7 in February from 49.9 in January. This signalled the first time the index had climed above 50 since July 2000.
