Standardising the repair of flood-damaged properties

Nicholas

Standardising the repair of flood-damaged properties - 2002 - Building Engineer March 2002, 34-36(3) .

Discusses the need to benchmark the assessment of flood damage caused to domestic properties. Argues it is important to consider a dwelling's condition prior to it being flooded as this provides a useful comparison when any repair work is carried out. Also the level and quantity of repair work needs to be standardised to try to reduce the subjective perceptive of individual building engineers. To attempt to determine future benchmarks, an internet based questionnaire has been produced. For details: http://www.wlv.ac.uk/sebe/flooding
