Planning authorities' improvement over the past decade has been 'disappointing', according to a new Audit Commission report. The report shows that 70% of planning services were judged to be fair or poor, rather than good or excellent. The report advises councils to improve the delivery of their services for agents and developers by publishing clear service targets and making it easier for applicants to find out about the progress on their application.
