The Homelessness Bill received the Royal Assent on 26 February 2002 to become the Homelessness Act 2002 . The Act reforms existing legislation on homelessness and the allocation of social housing implementing key proposals outlined in the Housing Green Paper "Quality and choice: a decent home for all" Chapter 9 and the Housing Policy Statement 'The way forward for'.
