Missed budget opportunity
- 2002
- RICS Press Release (pr046) 17 April 2002 (1) .
RICS argue that the chancellor missed theopportunity to help first-time buyers to gain first step on housing ladder by failing to raise the upper limit to which zero stamp duty applies. The current level of £60,000 is too low given the price of property at the moment and a raise in the limit could give a welcome boost to the market.
