The National Farmers Union (NFU) has made significant progress in its legal fight to stop government from imposing penalties on arable farmers who have made genuine mistakes while claiming EU support payments. The Adocate General of the European Court of Human Justice believes that Government could be wrong to impose penalties on claims reaching back to the launch of the Integrated administration and control system (IACS) in 1993.
