Disability and historic buildings

Disability and historic buildings - 2002 - Building Control April 2002, 13(1) .

Explains that ancient buildings should be sympathetically altered to accommodate access by disabled. Emphasises that Building Regulations only ask that requirements are met, without obligation to adopt them in a particular way. When requirement cannot be met by any means, perhaps architectural character would be too seriously damaged, then applicant should apply for relaxation or dispensation of requirement.
