The European Commission has opened a formal investigation procedure into the UKαs use of stamp duty exemptions for non-residential property in disadvantaged areas on the grounds that the scheme does not conform to the ♯deprived area guidelinesα. Government and interested parties may submit comments within a limited time period. RICS will be writing to the Commission in the coming weeks. Als government proposals in the "Modernising Stamp Duty" consultation paper will add more than 4% onto outsourcing deals.
