A local initiative the Parrett Catchment Project (PCP) in Somerset, is one of five government pilot schemes using catchment-based flood management. PCP is adopting a radical new approach to flooding - flood mitigation is considered for the whole of the Somerset levels and Moors, rather than by a site by site basis.The scheme is seeking government backing in order for it to work properly. The article oulines the steering group's plans for the next 12 years in "The Parrett catchment water management strategy action plan".
