Government proposes to bring electrical safety within the controls of the Building Regulations to stop the increased risk of electrical accidents in the home caused by faulty installations. The consultation paper, "Proposals for new safety requirements for electrical installation work in dwellings" will bring England and Wales in line with Scotland where Building Regulations already tackle electrical safety issues. Responses required by 13 September 2002.
