Arbitration proceedings: the new rules for arbitration claims

Arbitration proceedings: the new rules for arbitration claims - 2002 - Arbitration Law Monthly 2(2) February 2002, 1-3(3) .

Sets out the new rules for arbitration claims under the new provisions as set out in the Civil Procedure (Amendment no 5) Rules 2002, SI 2001 No 4015, which came into effect on 25 March 2002, replacing Practice Direction 49G. The effect of this statutory is to add new parts to the CPR, Parts 58 to 62. Parts 58 to 61 deal with proceedings in particular courts while Rule 61 governs arbitration claims. Part 62 is supplemented by the new Practice Direction, PD 62. Much of the effect of PD49G is re-enacted in the new provisions but with some important changes and much of the wording redrafted to make its meaning clearer.
