E-conveyancing: security requirements
Perry, R
E-conveyancing: security requirements - 2002 - Solicitors' Journal 146(15) 19 April 2002, 360-361(2) .
Warns how the move to e-conveyancing creates a new form of risk and security issues. Highlights the three main new risks connected with electronic conveyancing as being: the nature of digital signatures themselves; computer networks are inherenetly insecure and the problem of cyber-crime. Looks at the precautions available to combat these risks. Questions whether insurance is the answer; avoiding negligence claims; entering into network access agreements when e-conveyancing is introduced and if fraud does occur the onus will be on the Land Registry to prove negligence.
