Auctioneers Andrew Smith & Son have successfully sued a vendor who failed to disclose that he had sought expert opinion on a painting and denied receiving a letter confiming that the painting he was selling was not by the artist Nussbaum as he claimed. "Held" that a vendor has a duty of care to ensure that goods offered for auction are authentic.
