National targets for the use of recycled aggregates are set out in "Minerals Planning Guidance Note 6" 1994 and currently under review. According to the Quarry Products Association the 2001 target for 40m tonnes was exceeded. The target for 2006 is 55m tonnes. The article explores what the future may hold for the fastest growing sector of the aggregates industry. Describes a recent road construction project using Glasphalt - waste green glass in asphalt.
