The latest European Environment Agency's (EEA) annual assessment "Environmental signals 2002" shows efforts to lessen pressures on Europe's environment are making uneven progress. Positive results include reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and the total amount of waste which though increasing appears to be growing more slowly than the economy.
