QBD 22 July 2002. "Lock and others v SoS Environment, Transport and the Regions and another". Since 1989 the claimants L had occupied agricultural land as an unofficial gypsy caravan site. The defendant council eventually made it the subject of a compulsory purchase order. The inspector advised that the order be made, but expressed concern about the potential infringement of L's rights under Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights. L brought proceedings under the Land Act 1981 s23 to have the order quashed. "Held" the claim was dismissed.
