Discusses the European Union's proposals to redirect money from farming subsidies into rural regeneration. Britain supports the changes to CAP and its introduction of modulation is supported by RICS but there are concerns that CAP reforms will lead to a reduction in net farm income and farmers will turn to environmentally damaging practices. However other point out that farmers will still receive money but for protection of the environment and support of the local rural community.
