Following the RICS report, "A waste of space", which estimated that UK wastes £18bn a year on inefficient use of space, argues that companies could improve their profits if they paid more attention to their use of property. Points out that owner-occupiers consider their building as 'free' and do not consider their use of the space. Hot-desking is considered as one solution but not one for every organisation; a more effective means of highlighting wasted space is internal rent charges. Emphasises the need for companies to pay more attention to property and save money.
