Argues that the housing sector should improve its service in the light of deputy prime minister John Prescott's announcement that there will be single inspectorate for housing: housing providers are also being expected to be more accountable with local authorities and housing associations being required to measure and publish their managment performance. Looks at how a new, single, housing inspectorate might affect housing management services on subjects of finance, the level of intervention on underperforming housing managers and whether continual improvement is possible.
