Government has urged a new agenda for more attractive, safer, uncluttered and cared-for streets but so far public places have not been seen to benefit. Reports on the findings of research commissioned by government and the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) into why the streets have not seen the improvements suggested by government. Lists the recommendations for improved streets and looks at two case studies from the research that illustrate good and bad schemes.
