Common land registration
Cousins, E.
Common land registration - 2002 - Solicitors' Journal 146(27) 12 July 2002, 634-635(2) .
Explains how competing provisions in the Land Registration Acts 1925 to 1997 and the Commons Registration Act 1965 Act are resolved. Discusses the complexities created byregistration of ownership under the 1965 Act not being definitive or conclusive. In December 1990, the whole of England and Wales became the subject of compulsory registration of land at HM Land Registry. From April 1998, dispositions relating to unregistered land requiring registration have been the subject of wide extension under the provisions of the Land Registration Act 1997. Notes that the effect of registering of land at HM Land Registry is that any prior registration of ownership in the ownership section of the registers held by the Registration Authority will be cancelled at the institgation of the Chief Land Registrar.
