New principles for flood insurance

The Association of British Insurers announced that its members will continue to provide flood isurance to the majority of homes and small businesses in areas at risk of flooding; however over 200,000 people may find that their homes are uninsurable and unsellable. Mary Francis, director general of the ABI, said: 'We are working with the government to ensure that planning rules are tightened so that there is increased scrutiny of the building of new homes that might be at risk of flooding.'
