The Environment Agency (EA) is consulting on national interim waste acceptance criteria under the landfill Directive. Responses are required by 15 November 2002; the consultation paper is available at http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/yourenv/consultations/343078/?version=1&lang=_e. A report by the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee identifies a lack of guidance and criteria for the disposal of waste, under-resourcingof the EA and the need for better quality data on hazardous waste generation and disposal as key concerns.
