The new nitrate vulnerable zone (NVZ) boundaries have been finalised with maps available to allow farmers to determine which of their fields fall within a NVZ. NVZs aim to prevent nitrate pollution of water and reduce eutrophication in compliance with the EU Nitrates Directive 1991.
