The British Property Federation (BPF) urges its member to adopt the voluntary "Code of practice for commercial leases England and Wales" to avoid legislation. The BPF has outlined a series of measures that include a checklist of 10 actions landlords should take to help them comply with the lease code; a logo for use in advertising and a series of good practice clauses to be used in correspondence with tenants.
