Discusses the latest technologies used to map the UK. Getmapping is a very detailed aerial view of the UK which picks out very small objects such as road markings and individual people. These images are detailed enough to be used in site analysis and urban planning but they do have some disadvantage in that their images are instantly historic. Other developments in this area include government funded planning portals and local government development plans such as Birmingham and Glasgow's sites. A private company, UK Planning is making innovative strides with its ability to make planning applications on the internet.
