10 local authorities will pilot in April 2003 a new set of performance indicators for measuring economic regeneration programmes, developed by the Chief Economic Development Officers' Society (Cedos) in collaboration with the Audit Commission. Unlike most main local government functions, economic regeneration has not had a comparative performance gauge. If the pilots are successful, the Audit Commission could adopt the system as nationally approved indicators. Further information is available from the Audit Commission [email protected] or t +44 (0)20 7463 3657.
