- Regeneration and Renewal 15 November 2002, 11(1) .
The Deputy Prime Minister has rejected an application to build an Ikea retail warehouse near Stockport, overruling a planning inspector's recommendation. The decision letter states that Ikea's reliance on car-borne customers is unsustainable and socially exclusive and would breach PPG13 planning guidance on transport. Ikea had also not proven the need for an out-of-town retail warehouse development on the site. Decision letter is at http://www.planning.odpm.gov.uk/callins/oct2_2002/index.htm
