A consultation report on revisions to the "Indices of deprivation 2000" includes proposals to integrate problems caused by crime and a poor physical environment into the indices. The indices play a key role in the allocation of government regeneration funding. The initial consultation deadline is 15 January 2003 and the revised indices should be in place by September 2003.
