A new study by construction industry research body CIRIA and waste management firms Biffa and Viridis reveals that over 35% of the raw materials used in the construction products manufacturing process are thrown out as waste. "Construction industry mass balance: resource use, wastes and emissions" also highlights the energy consumption and greenhouse gases resulting from the process.
