New research by the London School of Economics, claims that residents are not necessarily opposed to high density living if there are associated benefits. Study points out that almost all New Deal for Communities projects in London and the southeast are now opting for density increases. Some commentators have used this to warn against a return to the planning mistakes of the 1960s and 1970s and for planners to build what people actually want.
