Great expectations - 2002 - RICS Building Surveying Faculty News (5) October 2002, 8-11(4) .

Explores the principles of the surveyor's role in dilapidations issues. Concludes that it calls for a knowledge of building construction, the drafting of contracts and modern law. Issues examined include damages and forfeitures, quitting the premises and schedules of condition. Points out that the landlord's opportunity to pursue a tenant for 'interim dilapidations' is seriously curtailed by three historic statutes: Law of Property Act 1925, Landlord and Tenant Act 1927 and Leasehold Properties(Repairs) Act 1938
