The Scottish Parliament has announced a package of measures to boost Scotland's rural economy. One of the most important recommendations is the setting up of a forum to coordinate the work of rural development agencies. Other suggestions include a review of the rural rates relief scheme, more investment in the rural road network, an expansion of the Rural Stewardship Scheme, a strategy on the location of renewable energy generation structures, more help for local learning centres in rural areas, a comprehensive forestry policy, and more affordable housing in rural areas.
