Reviews the requirements set out in the Society of Construction Law "Pre-action protocol for terminal dilapidations claims for damages", which has raised concerns that surveyors may not be able to meet its guidelines. Argues that there should not be a lack of s18 valuers available, as all surveyors should have the necessary skills to carry out this type of valuation. Landlord and Tenant Act 1927 s18 deals with diminution in value and emphasises these issues should be addressed at an early stage of a dispute to give all parties the chance to negotiate a settlement.
