Shows house prices rising by 1.5% in January demonstrating that the market remains strong. The number of transactions and mortgage approvals confirm this trend. Three of the most important measures of the housing market, those of unemployment, interest rates and affordability show that the UK housing market is in good shape. Affordability in particular remains very good with mortgage payments representing 15% below gross earnings for a typical new borrower, well below the long run average of 22%.
