BID-style tax for City businesses

BID-style tax for City businesses - 2003 - New Urban Futures (7) 24 January 2003, 5(1) .

Businesses in the City of London are likely to become the first in the UK to pay a supplement to their business rates to fund a Business Improvement Districts-style tax to boost security. Occupiers would face an extra 1% on their rates. The British Retail Consortium intends to lobby against the tax rise. The proposals are included in government's Local Government Bill.
