Reports on the changes to the Building Regulations which are due to come into effect over the next six months. Stresses that the major changes affect Part E "Resistance to the passage of sound", which comes into effect on 1 July 2003 and Part B "Fire safety", which comes into effect on 1 March 2003. The scope of Part E particularly concerns the introduction of 'robust standard details', which aim to lead to high performance constructions that do not need regular testing to maintain high quality. Lists other changes which need to be considered.
