New service offers 'outsourcing' of brownfield risks

WSP Group, a leading environmental consultancy, has launched a new service, Active Transfer, to manage corporate brownfield sites, any contamination issues arising and to carry out any remediation work required. Insurance will be provided by the Willis Group. Due to the close relationship between them and WSP, the insurance policies will be around 30 years, longer than the normal 10 - 15 years. Already used in the US market, the service goes one step futher by transferring the responsibilities to manage the land and carry out remediation work. Ownership of the land will be unaffected.
