Discusses the suggestion by a Housing Improvement Task Force sub-group that best practice guidelines should be introduced to ensure home buyers and sellers are given adequate information about the process, the costs of repair and the maintenance obligations arising from titles. The Law Society of Scotland has responded by indicating that solicitors should mention the charges section of any land certificate and the burdens section of any burden writs regarding the property to their clients. The Society is also likely to make letters outlining the terms and conditions of engagement mandatory in residential property transactions for private clients.
