"Green cities: and why we need them", a new report from the New Economics Foundation calls for the scrapping of the government target of 60% of housing on brownfield sites and argues that the government's support of high-density housing in urban areas is a planning disaster in the making and no solution for the housing shortfall in the long term. Planning strategies striving to protect greenfied sites fail to take account of counter-urbanisation trends in the UK.
