Home inspectors - an update on proposals for qualifications and certification

Focuses on the new occupation of home inspector which begins with the introduction of the seller's'pack and home condition reports in early 2006. Outlines the draft occupational standards and current plans for the home inspector qualification (HIQ) and certification. A single qualification is being developed by the Awarding Body for the Built Environment (ABBE). Details the five qualification units, how the qualification will be assessed and the post-qualification certification by the Home Inspectors Certification Board (HICB). It is very unlikely that any existing qualification or experience will totally exempt anyone from all of the HIQ.
