Discusses "Bradford and Bingley plc v Hayes Dunphy and Hayes Ltd (HC unreported) in which an individual valuer and director of a firm of chartered surveyors relying on "Williams v Natural Life Health Foods Ltd" (HL [1998] ALL ER 557) maintained that he was not personally liable for a negligent mortgage valuation. This viewpoint was upheld by the court despite "Merrett v Babb" (CA Abs64182). Concludes that company directors enjoy better protection than employees in terms of personal liability in negligence claims.
